Francis Mott, co-founder of Valley Rescue Mission, passes away at 91

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A well-known local philanthropist has passed away.

Frances Mott died Monday, May 12 at 91 years old. Mott and her husband Howard founded the Valley Rescue Mission in 1963.

According to their website, the purpose of Valley Rescue Mission is to exalt the name of the Lord Jesus Christ through spiritual, educational and charitable means directed toward those in spiritual and economic need.

Frances Mott retired from the Valley Rescue Mission 25 years ago, but continued to volunteer in the community.

Visitation is this Thursday, May 15 at McMullen Funeral Home on Gentian Boulevard from 6 to 8 p.m. Her memorial service will be held Friday, May 16 at Trinity Temple Assembly of God in Columbus, located at 3000 12th Avenue, at 3 p.m.
