DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Walk into "All The Rage" in Decatur and you see much more than the simple choices of decades past.

Robby Sadler has twenty plus years of artistry under his belt. "Now it's more of portraits, realistic animals, and what not. There is a lot more of an art twist to it."

It's the artistic designs and TV shows which are the inspiration behind much of the popular body art. It's taking an old art form and making it new again. Sadler sees a trend. "Now days we have a lot more fine artists that are in this industry so they understand composition and, and they're able to re-create stuff so, yeah the imagery has gotten phenomenal."

He said they can even disguise past mistakes, especially names. "We can design them so that we can disguise it so that those names are no longer seen any more."

The artistic flair has more people searching for self expression through body art.

Decatur Resident, Lance Hughes has an emotional tie to his tat. "This tattoo is for my grandfather. Growing up he was just a big inspiration in my life. Unfortunately he passed away at a fairly young age at 55 and I was still young as well."

Derick Smith of Priceville said his parents were the inspiration behind his tattoo. "I am where I am in my life because of them, and I got the cross with the wings. I got the verse Samuel :22 - 3."

Professional athletes, like Decatur's Juwayn Simpson, were also inspired. "I have a script, sacrifice. You know I play ball in Canada, so you know it was a major decision for me to leave the country and my family and friends and everything I know back home to go play a sport."

If you're wanting to get a tattoo about a half-dollar size, it would take about an hour and if you want to get your crowning glory, it's pretty simple but there is a little bit of pain involved. On a scale of 1 - 10 maybe about a 4 or 5. It's a new form of art that's not really new in Bobby's Bama.
