MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

According to the Alabama Department of Transportation a small portion of Interstate 85 will be reduced to one lane due to bridge construction until May 23. Originally the closure was to begin on Thursday but rain delayed repairs.

Signs will be set up in advance letting commuters know the northbound right lane near Chantilly Parkway (exit 11) will be closed. All traffic will need to merge into the left lane.

The repairs will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday. A reduced speed limit of 50 mph will be enforced during this time.

Local traffic is encouraged to seek alternate routs with delays expected in the construction zone between 4 and 7 p.m.
