MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Neighborhood associations in Montgomery will come together Thursday night, in an effort to fight crime. It's part of the National Night Out kick off.

This event is hosted by the City of Montgomery's Bond Program, which stands for building our neighborhood for development and success.

It gives neighborhoods all over the City of Montgomery the chance to interact with one another and start planning for the individual National Night Out events that are planned in August.

The reason they are holding this kick off event so early, is to give neighborhoods plenty of time to get organized.

The National Night Out against crime is a crime and drug prevention event, but it also serves as a chance for communities to get to know each other so they can help each other keep an eye out for crime.

The goal is to send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

For more information on how you can get involved in the bonds program in Montgomery call 334-625-2126.
