GENEVA CO., AL (WSFA) -

One man is in custody and a second is on a bus headed back to Indiana, according to Geneva County Sheriff Greg Ward.

Sheriff Ward says a search was conducted after two men were seen wondering around a neighborhood south of Flat Creek near Samson. Startled neighbors called the sheriff's department requesting assistance, and when deputies responded one of the men fled the scene.

It turns out that the men, from Indiana, were on their way to Panama City when their vehicle got stuck overnight in the woods on a county road. The man who ran from authorities did so because he had a warrant out for probation violation.

The man, not identified, is being held at the Geneva County Jail. The other man is said to be returning on his own to Indiana via a bus.
