AUTAUGA CO., AL (WSFA) -

The Autauga County Sheriff's Department confirm that Christopher Robin Wingard has been taken into custody.

Sheriff's says they apprehended Wingard at 6:45 p.m. on County Road 66. Wingard's charges are pending at this time.

Wingard is the same person featured as Suspect No. 14 in the recent WSFA 12 News CrimeStoppers Action Line report. Wingard's CrimeStoppers profile indicates he is wanted for identity theft and fraudulent use of a credit card.

The sheriff's department was assisted by Millbrook Police and Alabama State Troopers with the Department of Public Safety helicopter. Authorities say a CrimeStoppers tipster saw Wingard and called authorities. A deputy saw Wingard walking down I-65 and when he was approached, he became combative and then fled into the nearby woods.

Due to the close proximity of the search to Pine Level Elementary School, authorities placed the school on a "soft" lockdown in which students were allowed to move around inside the school, but no one was allowed to leave. That lockdown was lifted at the end of the school day and students were released on normal schedule.
