Fire destroys shed at Pike Pioneer Museum in Troy

Investigators are looking into the cause of an overnight fire that was sparked in a shed on the property of the Pike Pioneer Museum in Troy.

Troy Fire Chief Thomas Outlaw says the call came in around 3 a.m. Tuesday and responding crews found the storage shed behind the museum on fire upon arrival.

The structure was made of logs and was once used as a barn, the chief said. The lumber fueled the flames but firefighters worked quickly to get it under control and extinguished.

Chief Outlaw says the cause of the fire is still under investigation but the fire department believes it has something to do with a lawnmower that was stored in the building.

The shed was a total loss but the museum itself was not damaged.
