Police identify man found shot to death inside car in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Birmingham Police have identified the victim of a homicide from Tuesday night.

West Precinct officers found a black male shot to death inside a car around 9:36 p.m. on Tuesday. The vehicle was parked in an alley in the 1500 block of Pearson Avenue.

On Wednesday, police identified the body as Christopher Handley, 29, of Birmingham. They say he was sitting in the driver's seat of the car and had an apparent gunshot wound to his body.

Birmingham fire officials pronounced Handley dead at the scene.

At this time, there are no suspects in custody. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the BPD Homicide Unit at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
