Prattville graduate gets $900K in scholarship offers

PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) -

A Prattville High School senior has become a rich young man when you consider the college scholarship money he's earned so far. Ken Levens earned just a little more than $930,000.

"I knew I wanted to go into the Navy so I got serious about my studies in the 9th grade taking courses like AP chemistry," said Levens.

Levens admitted there were times he felt like giving up, especially when you consider he was on the swim team for the school. Ken says his day typically started at 5 every morning with a devotion, workouts, breakfast and then school and work out some more after school.

Talk about a perseverance.

"There were times when it got a little tough and the studies were hard but I knew I had a goal and that goal helped me get one day closer to where I wanted to be," said Levens.

In the end the teen chose the U.S. Naval Academy which offered the bulk of the scholarship offers at $400,000.

Levens says he'll be sworn in by the Navy in one month.
