GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies are searching for a suspect after a produce stand owner reported a shoplifter riding a stolen lawnmower.

The owner of the County Corner Produce Stand on Highway 25 in Greenville County reported to police that a man was lurking around the business on Thursday afternoon.

The owner said her husband chased him away but he returned a short time later on a riding lawnmower.

According to the owner of the stand, the man began snatching things from the farm stand.

"I don't know what was going on or what's in his head but it's kind of crazy to come right here and do that in daylight like it wasn't nothing," shop owner Tracey Edwards told FOX Carolina.

She said she was able to chase him away again, but deputies said he got away with a few small items.

Deputies said the suspect ditched the lawnmower and then fled on foot.

They said he hasn't been caught at this time.
