Norwood shooting victim in critical condition

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A man shot multiple times on Thursday night in Norwood is in critical condition, according to Birmingham police.

The shooting happened a little before 11 p.m. in the 1200 block of 32nd Street North. Birmingham police officers responded to the scene around 10:58 p.m.

When officers got to the scene, they were told that a black male had been shot and was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital in a personal vehicle, Lt. Julie Quigley said.

The victim was later sent to UAB Hospital, where he is in critical condition for multiple gunshot wounds.

Sgt. Quigley said they are waiting to gather more information before deciding if the shooting will be investigated as a robbery or an assault.
