ASU Board of Trustees approves new organizational chart

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Alabama State University Board of Trustees approved ASU President Gwendolyn Boyd's new organizational chart at a meeting Friday. Gov. Robert Bentley was in attendance at the meeting.

After changes and extended deliberation, the board also voted to give Boyd the flexibility to implement the plan when she sees fit. The new structure will bring major cuts to reduce the university's spending.

Changes to the organizational chart include eliminating the positions of Executive Vice President, Associative Vice President and Vice President of University Relations, which Vice Chair of the Board Judge Marvin Wiggins says "allows for $300,00 in additional salaries."

After disagreement between members of the board and President Boyd, Elton Dean said "Dr Boyd and I have agreed to agree, and try to do away with some of this negative press about the university."
