HARTSELLE, AL (WAFF) -

All lanes are open following an emergency lane closure by the Alabama Department of Transportation on Friday afternoon.

According to ALDOT, a sinkhole developed in the southbound lane on I-65 at milepost 327.0, approximately 2000 feet south of the AL 36 Interchange at Hartselle. ALDOT officials said the sinkhole was 4 feet deep, the top is 3 feet wide and the bottom is 8 feet wide.

They requested motorists to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival and departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and to use extreme caution in that area.

The lane has since been reopened, and traffic is moving normally.
