WILCOX COUNTY, AL (WSFA) -

Three people were killed over the Memorial Day weekend in traffic crashes according to Alabama State Troopers.

Sergeant Steven Jarett says none of the individuals killed were wearing a seat belt.

The crashes occurred in Shelby, Jackson and Wilcox Counties between 6 p.m. on Friday and midnight on Monday.

The single-vehicle crash that occurred in Wilcox County claimed the life of a Coy man.

The crash occurred at 10:50 p.m. on Highway 41 at the 83.5 mile marker, which is five miles south of Camden. Alabama State Troopers say that 40-year-old Alford Lee Dortch was killed when the 2001 Pontiac Grand Am he was driving left the roadway and overturned.

Nothing further is available as troopers continue to investigate the crash.

During the same travel period last year, troopers investigated two fatalities both of those being motorcyclists.
