A Lafayette business owner was robbed and shot late Friday night after posting a photo of himself with a large amount of cash, authorities said.

Corporal Paul L. Mouton, spokesman for the Lafayette Police Department, said the victim was sitting in his business on 12th Street when two armed men entered the store.

"The suspects were two black males wearing black clothing with white T-shirts covering their faces," Mouton said Saturday in a news release. "The victim fled towards the rear of the business at which time one of the suspects fired multiple shots, striking the victim in the back."

The suspects then stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

Mouton said that about 20 minutes before the robbery, the victim posted a photograph to a social media site. In the photo, the man is seen sitting in the business with a large amount of cash.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
