MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Students from Jefferson Davis High School gathered on Sunday at the Alabama State University Acadome for graduation, but not everyone got to watch the ceremony.

A large crowd of family, friends and peers formed outside the building as officials were forced to close the doors.

The University confirms the Acadome reached full capacity, and some had to be turned away in compliance with safety standards enforced by the state fire marshal's office.

Still parents and loved ones were very upset.

"There should have been something else done," said Audrey Perdue. "If they can't control these graduations, they need to revert to tickets where they have graduation tickets."

ASU leases the Acadome out for several graduations, and notes that Jeff Davis is the largest ceremony the facility hosts.

Lanier high school will start its graduation ceremony from the same location tonight at 6:30 p.m.
