MONTEVALLO, AL (WBRC) -

Hundreds of people chose to spend this Memorial Day honoring our fallen heroes at American Village in Montevallo.

There were a number of ceremonies and activities families could participate in including a wreath laying in front of the new National Veterans Shrine. There was also the opportunity to hear George Washington speak, to play the colonial game of trap ball and to sit in on a special musical tribute to veterans.

If you couldn't make it out today, from June 1 to August 31 American Village will host a special salute to veterans. Visitors can tour the National Veterans Shrine, meet some of the patriots and at 2:30 p.m. there will be a special veterans salute recognizing each veteran at the village that day.

Please visit www.americanvillage.org/ for more information.
