Jamey DuBose has been named Central High School's new football coach, confirms sports anchor Dave Platta.

The announcement was made at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 at Central High.

DuBose's appointment will fill the position formerly held by Woodrow Lowe, who was terminated. DuBose left Florence to become head coach at Charles Henderson High School this spring.

He most recently walked away from the coaching job at Florence High School, where he coached two seasons with the Falcons. He left that job for a smaller classification at 4A Charles Henderson in January.

After only five months with the Trojans, he landed here in Phenix City but he comes with a lot of experience and championship success, which is something the Red Devils have been looking for since 1993.

DuBose coached at Prattville High School from 2008-2011 and led the Lions to two state championships, one in his first year and his last year as head coach.

He was named All Metro Coach of the Year and All County Coach of the Year in 2008.

Prior to becoming the head coach at Prattville, he served as the offensive coordinator for four seasons.

Coming into the 2014 season, DuBose is 71-29 in 8 seasons as a head football coach.
