VESTAVIA HILLS, AL (WBRC) -

After weeks of waiting, customers were finally able to pick up their clothes from Fashion Cleaners in Vestavia Hills after it closed without warning three weeks ago.

Monday, customers contacted FOX6 News to seek help in getting their clothes back. Now, customers are not only getting their clothes back but answers on what happened.

But for some what they got back is not what they paid for.

"I had seven pieces and none of them were clean," said Geraldine Walker.

Walker wants her money back, but was not given a refund.

"Not happy at all," said Walker.

Fashion Cleaners owner Kameron Hyde didn't want to go on camera, but he explained what's going on with his business.

Hyde says in March he decided to close the cleaners. He hired his brother and his brother's girlfriend to return the clothes to customers. Hyde says he told them not to take in new clothes; however he claims the couple did anyway and were profiting off the sales. Hyde says he didn't learn of this until his brother's death in mid April.

Hyde says after his brother's death, his brother's girlfriend continued to help close down the store, and continued taking in new clothes until she died a few weeks ago.

Hyde said he walked into his store for the first time in months on Tuesday and was shocked at what he saw.

Some customers like Brandon Wallace sympathized with Hyde and what his family is going through.

"There are circumstances that revolved around this that could not be foreseen or helped by the families. It happened to be unfortunate it turned out this way but we're here, stuff is being returned so we're thankful for that," said Wallace.

However, Wallace was happy to get an important item back: a bridesmaid's dress his fiancee will wear in a friend's wedding.

Customers can pick up their clothing this week from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
