Jerry's mother, Tina, calls her son's progress "a miracle" after the
nightmare he went through in early May. Police say Jerry was allegedly
beaten by his father, Jay Minor, at the family's home.
Court documents say Minor admitted to hitting his son twice in the
head with his fist then squeezing the baby's chest to get him to stop
crying. Police say the assault left Jerry with multiple skull fractures,
other broken bones, and bruises. The baby remained in intensive care
for a while at Children's Hospital in Birmingham.
But the family says after a lot of prayers, Jerry started improving and was released from the hospital earlier this week.
"I never thought that he would probably come out," Tina Minor said.
"But all the prayers and the man upstairs, He brought the baby home."
Little Jerry's bones are healing. But the family says he still has an
uphill battle. Jerry has to be fed through a feeding tube every three
"If it wasn't for the help of a lot of people helping us and praying
for this child, I don't know how we could have made it," Princess Hall,
Jerry's grandmother, said. "And we still need a lot more because this
baby has a long road to travel."
"I'm just hoping my son will be all right," Tina added.
Jay Minor remains in the Tuscaloosa County under a $90,000 bond. He
is charged with aggravated child abuse and domestic violence.
