HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville City Schools will kick off the second year of its summer feeding program Monday.

More than 98,000 students were able to get hot, nutritious meals during the inaugural year of the program. This year, breakfast and lunch will be served at six schools, with breakfast and dinner served at two.

The only qualification for the program is that the child must be 18 years old or younger.

"Child hunger is a problem, not only across Alabama but across the nation," said Joey Vaughn, child nutrition director for Huntsville City Schools. "Just because school is out in the summer doesn't mean hunger ends."

The City of Huntsville has agreed to allow students to ride the shuttle buses for free, providing they are going to a summer feeding site and have a free bus pass.
