BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Officials with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office arrested a man on Sunday afternoon they say was stealing seats from the stadium at Erwin Elementary School.

31-year-old Robert Robinson of Birmingham was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property.

A Sheriff's deputy was patrolling near Erwin just after noon on Sunday when he found a truck parked at the school. When approached, deputies say Robinson successfully fled the scene.

The deputy found a large aluminum stadium seat in the bed of the truck and another on the ground nearby. It appeared the seats were taken from the adjacent football stadium. The Sheriff's Office impounded the truck.

Thirty minutes later, officials say they received a phone call from a man who wanted to report his truck as stolen. Deputies went to the address and identified Robinson as the person they say was stealing the seats.

After his arrest, Robinson was taken to the Jefferson County Jail. His bond was set at $15,000.
