AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

The Auburn Police Department issued a warrant for the arrest of a Montgomery man on Saturday, and with the assistance of the Montgomery Police Department was able to bring him into custody.

Montgomery Police contacted 46-year-old Dwight Lanard Williams on Saturday, and transported him to the Lee County Detention Facility where Auburn Police executed the warrant.

Police say the arrest is a result of an investigation into a complaint received on March 27. The complaint states that an unknown person presented and cashed a forged check at a bank in Auburn.

Police were able to develop Williams as a suspect on April 29, and a felony warrant for second degree possession of a forged instrument was issued.

Williams is being held on a $3,000 bond at the Lee County Detention Facility.
