NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A 4WARN Weather Alert is in effect for Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky for Thursday because of the continuing threat for flooding.

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department says one person drowned Thursday on the Denson Road area in Summertown. Officials say the person may have been trying to cross over a flooded road and lost control of the vehicle.

In Hickman County, a 6-year-old boy was swept downstream when the car in which he was riding stalled in flood waters near Beaver Dam.

Lewis County officials say several roads have been impacted by flooding and Newberg Road has washed out. Tiny Creek is about 8 to 10 inches above what it was on April 28, the date of the last flooding event in the area.

In Perry County, Highway 438 and Main Street are flooded and Lobelville is experiencing major flooding issues. The dock at Crooked Creek Marina broke lose but has since been secured.

Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative reports more than 900 outages in Perry County, 800 outages in Hickman County and about 100 combined outages in Houston, Humphreys and Lewis counties.

Utility officials say the continued rain and flooding is making repairs difficult, and other outages are likely due to falling trees.

The first wave of storms came through late Wednesday. At 9 p.m., trained weather spotters reported a confirmed tornado on the ground in northeastern Christian County moving southeast at 25 mph.

Lightning strikes caused an apartment building to catch fire in Hopkinsville, fire officials say. At least five units at the Ravenwood Apartments were damaged.
