TROY, AL (WSFA) -

Troy University's track and field head coach Jill Lancaster has announced she will resign from her position effective immediately.

Athletic Director John Hartwell made the announcement on Tuesday. Lancaster is resigning due to family medical concerns.

"We appreciate Jill's years of service and dedication to Troy University, and the impact that she had on so many student-athletes," Hartwell said. "We will begin a national search immediately for the next coach to lead our track and field and cross country programs."

Lancaster just completed her seventh season as the head coach of the Troy men's and women's track and field teams and ninth with the program after beginning as an assistant coach.
