MPS report cards delayed due to issue with data company

The Montgomery Public School System says a technical issue is delaying the release of some report cards at area high schools.

MPS spokesman Tom Salter says the issue originates with the Mobile-based company STI, which the Alabama State Department of Education uses as a data compiler. The company handles data for school systems across the state.

Salter says the school system is working with STI to address the issue, which is not specifically explained, in an effort to resolve the issue. Salter says the system has a work around but because it is time consuming, only four schools have been completed at this point.

MPS has asked schools with students who are on the border of passing or failing a course, which would require summer school, to work up their grades for those students manually and then let their parents know before summer school starts.

WSFA 12 News is working to confirm additional details on the issue through the State Dept. of Education and will update this story with more information as it becomes available.
