AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

A star witness in the capital murder trial of Desmonte Leonard has been arrested and charged with Attempted Murder. The case was set to go to trial the first week of June, but was pushed back.

Turquorius Vines, 25, was arrested Tuesday, June 3 for Attempted Murder in a Sunday night shooting that injured an Auburn man in the Stone Crest Apartment Complex.

Back in 2012, Desmonte Leonard was the alleged gunman in a mass shooting that left three men dead, including two former Auburn football players, and injured two more.

According to Leonard's attorney, Vines is one of the victims her client is charged with trying to kill.

Vines is also a star witness in the case for the prosecution. According to the indictment, Vines identified Leonard as the mass shooter.

Now, Vines faces serious charges of his own as another Auburn man fights for his life in the hospital.

An Auburn Police officer heard several gunshots while patrolling the area of Glenn Ave. on June 1. Around the same time, a 911 call reported shots fired in the 200 block of Opelika Rd. Officers arrived at the scene to find 21-year-old Kendarious Deon Moss from Auburn, Ala. suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his torso.

Moss was airlifted to Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, Ga. for treatment, and was listed in unsatisfactory condition as of June 4.

During investigation, Vines of Auburn, Ala. was developed as a suspect.

Vines was initially taken into custody on charges of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Parapernalia during a search of his residence on June 2. A warrant for Attempted Murder was issued on June 3, and executed on Vines at the Lee County Detention Facility. His bond was set at $75,000.
