GREENVILLE, AL (WSFA) -

A woman who has Alzheimer's and was reported missing by family members in Tennessee is safe after being found hundreds of miles away in Butler County, Alabama.

The Greenville Police Department says a resident spotted the woman off Highway 31 around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. 88-year-old Tavy Priddy was reportedly confused and disoriented when officers made contact with her.

Authorities took Priddy to an area hospital to make sure she was not injured. Medical professionals determined she was okay, but she will be held at the hospital until family members arrive to take her home.

The police department said Priddy's vehicle was also impounded until family members pick it up.

Family members believe their loved one got into her car, got lost, and kept driving.
