DALE CO., AL, (WSFA) -

A veteran in the Wiregrass escaped with just the clothes on his back after his home caught fire.

According to the Pinkard Volunteer Fire Department the fire occurred at 55 St. Andrews Street. The man's home and car are a total loss.

The community says they are coordinating efforts to help the man get back on his feet.

The cause of the fire is unknown and no other details are being released at this time.
