DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A Decatur man is being held with a higher than normal bond following his drug arrest due to his recent criminal history.

Officers arrested Jeffrey Williams for distribution of a controlled substance. Investigators said Williams sold undercover agents narcotics during an operation Wednesday.

Members of the police department's Organized Crime and Anti-Crime units searched for Williams later in the day, locating him at a Fifth Avenue convenience store. Officers followed Williams as he drove from the store, later arresting him during a traffic stop.

Investigators asked for a bond of $75,000 due to Williams' criminal history, including a recent arrest for first-degree assault, which he was out on bond for.

They said they will seek to have Williams' bond revoked.
