Tiftarea's Flick signs with Middle GA

CHULA, GA (WALB) -

For the first time in his life, Tiftarea's Rob Flick will focus on only one sport.

Flick signed his letter of intent with Middle Georgia State Wednesday.

He will reunite with former Panthers head coach Chris Howell, who is now an assistant with the Knights.

Flick was an all-state selection in 2014, as well as a three-time all-region pick behind the plate.

But he didn't just stick to the diamond.

He also served as Tiftarea's starting point guard on the basketball team, and starting quarterback on the gridiron.

Flick believes it will make him a better player to turn his attention to one sport.

"Well it's definitely going to be different," he laughs. "I feel like it's going to be good for me. I feel like it'll be good to focus on one sport."

"He's been so good at multiple sports," says Tiftarea head coach Brad Porter. "It's going to be incredible to watch him and see how very, very good he can get at one sport."

Flick believes it will be his determination that will help him with the Knights the most.

"My drive to win," he says when asked his greatest strength on the diamond. "I'm always wanting to work hard at everything I do."

Porter thinks his former catcher is an excellent addition to the Middle Georgia program.

"He's just a phenomenal leader on the field," Porter says. "He's not a rah-rah type of guy, but he leads by his example."

The Knights are leaving the NJCAA ranks for the NAIA next season.
