LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -
Movoto, a real estate research blog, recently rated Lubbock as the most boring city in America.
After gathering data from the 100 most populated places in the U.S., Movoto created a top-10 list of the most boring cities in America.
But Visit Lubbock does not agree. They've posted a rebuttal and sent their own reply to Movoto.
"We've been so busy getting ready to host the launch of Paul McCartney's North American Tour in a few weeks and the sold out NCAA Super Regional between Texas Tech and the College of Charleston, as well as cleaning up from Jack White's only headlining concert in Texas, that we barely had enough time to write you back. We didn't think a Tweet would suffice."
But Visit Lubbock is not the only one with a response to the ranking.
"Whoever published that rating has never been here," said Steve Massengale, owner of The Matador. "I mean, boring people are boring, but Lubbock has so many exciting things to take advantage of."
Tonja Hagy, coordinator of the First Friday Art Trail, said the 2,000 to 4,000 people who visit the exhibit each month would disagree with the post as well. She describes Lubbock's art scene as "vibrant and alive."
"If you can't find something to do in Lubbock on any day of the week," she said, "you're just not looking hard enough."
