COVINGTON CO., AL (WSFA) -

Investigators with the Covington County Jail say a woman who was turning herself in on a drug conviction will face additional charges after she went to "great lengths to smuggle drugs into the facility using some particularly unsanitary methods."

Randi Monique Jay is accused of attempting to bring narcotics into the facility that were hidden in her vaginal cavity, according to Drug Task Force Agent Greg Jackson.

"We called and noticed the female corrections officer on duty and, during a search of her person, she was found to have several Percocet pills, which is a controlled substance in the state of Alabama," Jackson said.

Jackson called the method "uncommon, but not unheard of."

Jay now faces charges of promoting prison contraband II, as well as possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
