AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

UPDATE: The Richmond County Sheriff's Office and Water Rescue team have recovered the body from the canal. Authorities describe the body as being a black male with no visible injuries. The body will be taken to the G.B.I. crime lab for an autopsy.

We will have more details as they become available.

FROM EARLIER:

A body was found in the canal between 13th St. and Telfair St. at 11:53 a.m. today according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office. 

When officers arrived on the scene the spoke with a fisherman who found the body lying face down in the water. 

RCSO investigators and the water rescue team are on the scene at this time.  At this time it is unknown if foul play is involved.
