Thunderstorms move through WSFA 12 News viewing area

Thunderstorms are moving across central Alabama Tuesday afternoon.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for much of the WSFA 12 News viewing until 7 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued watches for the following counties: Escambia, Conecuh, Covington, Crenshaw, Chambers, Lee and Russell.

According to the City of Prattville, two power poles fell on Highway 31 at Heritage Hills and there was major damage. The road will likely be closed the rest of Tuesday afternoon.

Alabama Power reported outages as of 3 p.m. for the following areas: 

  • Ft. Deposit – less than 50 customers
  • Clanton – less than 50 customers
  • Prattville – approximately 300 customers
