The Opp Police Department has arrested two juveniles for allegedly stealing a large number of iPads from the Opp City School System.

On June 10, Opp Police Officers responded to the Opp Housing Authority on Barnes Street in reference to a suspicious item located in the yard of a residence. Officers determined upon investigation that the item was an iPad belonging to the Opp City School System.

Officers then went to Opp Middle School where they discovered that a burglary had occurred sometime overnight, and that a large number of iPads had been stolen from the classrooms.

After an investigation was conducted, Police arrested two 17-year-old males. Police say the males broke into Opp Middle School on June 9 at approximately 9 p.m. and took a large unknown number of iPads.

As of Wednesday, officers and investigators have recovered 21 of the stolen iPads, valued at $10,500.

Both males were transported to the Dothan Juvenile Diversion Center and have been charged with third degree burglary and second degree theft of property.

Investigators are still looking for additional property that was stolen during the burglary. If anyone has any information regarding this case, they are asked to contact the Opp Police Department Investigations Division at 334-493-4511.
