MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Our editorial earlier this week regarding the recent audit highlighting the failures at the VA both nationwide and locally lead to the following feedback on wsfa.com and our WSFA 12 News station Facebook page…here is just a sampling:

Thomas responded with, "We have known there was a problem at the VA for five years, when reports surfaced about service members claims not acted on for months and months...Nothing from Congress or the President but promises with absolutely no action or even attempts to solve the problems. Now, everyone acts surprised that records were falsified and veterans have suffered."

Kristie provided the following, "Our family has thought this for a while and even contacted President Obama with little done to correct the problems we were facing. It is appalling that MULTIPLE veterans had to lose their lives on the home front for Washington to start caring. They need to wake up and take care of those who have protected them!!!"

Lastly Dave writes, "As a retired Air Force member that has been designated as 60% disabled due to service connected disabilities, I have been following the VA stories.  I can speak from personal experience where I have been waiting for over 8 months on an appeal decision … Unfortunately I don't believe the VA will be fixed in my lifetime."

As always, we encourage and appreciate your feedback.
