Auburn man killed in head-on crash

AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

One person was killed and one person was injured in a head-on crash in Auburn Friday afternoon.

According to Auburn police, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Shug Jordan Parkway near Wire Road around 1:50 p.m.

The driver of a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was seriously injured and transported to EAMC for treatment. The unidentified 55-year-old man from Auburn later died from his injuries.

A 57-year-old Sylacauga man in a 1995 Ford Ranger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to UAB Medical Center.

According to police, a preliminary investigation revealed the Chevrolet truck was traveling north on Shug Jordan Parkway, crossed into the opposing lane of traffic, and collided head on with the Ford truck, which was traveling south.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
