COLUMBIA, TN (WSMV) -

The Alabama man wanted in a home invasion last week in Crenshaw County, AL, and a subsequent high-speed chase through two Middle Tennessee counties has been arrested Monday.

Brandon Wayne Richards, 21, of Birmingham, AL, surrendered to U.S. marshals on Monday morning and faces charges of first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary. More charges are anticipated in the coming days.

Authorities say Richards and another man broke into a home early Wednesday, holding the female homeowner at gunpoint while ransacking the home. The victim later identified Richards as one of the suspects.

Investigators say the suspects got away with between $3,000 and 5,000 in cash, a handgun, a shotgun, a 32-inch TV, some jewelry, a purse and some debit and credit cards.

Richards and a female acquaintance, Carolyn Hall, 21, of Berbena, AL, were stopped by Brentwood police near McEwen Drive in the Cool Springs area.

During the traffic stop, police learned Richards was wanted for his alleged involvement in the home invasion and armed robbery.

Richards and Hall, who was driving, fled from police at high speeds down I-65.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol deployed spike strips about a mile north of the Bear Creek Pike exit.

Hall was taken into custody when the car stopped, and Richards fled on foot.

Richards ran into nearby woods. A THP helicopter was searching from the air as other law enforcement officials were searching on the ground.

Maury County sheriff's officials say a white 1994 Chevrolet was then stolen from a home on Bear Creek Pike, and Richards managed to escape.

Hall was charged with evading arrest, driving without a license and I proper display of a license plate by Brentwood police. She is being held at the Williamson County jail on a $26,500 bond.
