TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

"Unusual circumstances"- that's how police are describing the way a Tucson man died.

And now, it's a homicide investigation unfolding in a south side neighborhood.

Police told Tucson News Now that officers got on scene to the house near 30th Street and Country Club Road around 3 p.m. after someone asked them to do a welfare check on someone. Officials said they found a man's body inside in a state of decomposition.

A neighbor who did not want to be identified said people in the area started to notice a "stink" last Thursday.

Police are still tight-lipped about the identity of the body or why the person was killed. But they do say there were signs of trauma.

Tucson News Now did some digging into the people who live here. It turns out, someone living at this address is on the state's sex offender registry, a 32-year-old man convicted of child sex crimes.

It's unclear if that person is related to this case. A neighbor said that a man lived there with his father.
