Propane leak causes building evacuations in west Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery Fire Department says all is clear after a propane leak and building evacuation Monday afternoon.

Fire fighters responded to Southeastern Stud & Component on Baldwin Avenue in west Montgomery due to a 500 gallon propane tank leaking.

According to K.O. Jones, a forklift was refueling and caused damage to the piping when it pulled away. About 250 gallons propane dissipated into the air in a wooded area.

The building was evacuated along with the nearby U.S. Foods building.

The air was tested and deemed safe.

There were no injuries or structural damage.
