TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

Tuscaloosa police arrested three juveniles for hurting kittens and trying to bury them alive.

The juveniles, ages 12, 14 and 15, were arrested on Saturday, June 14 in the 2000 block of East 4th Street.

Police got a call reporting that several kids were "throwing the kittens into the air, hitting and kicking them, and attempting to bury them alive," TPD Lt. Brad Mason said.

Police officers and Animal Control officers responded to the scene. All three of the juveniles were arrested and charged with animal cruelty. They were later released to their parents under an appearance agreement, Lt. Mason said.

One of the kittens was so badly hurt that it had to be euthanized. Animal Control has custody of the other kittens.
