MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery Humane Society has raised more than $1,000 for a severely neglected and sick puppy named Brock.

According to the humane society, between Wednesday and Thursday donations are over $1,300.

Six-month-old Brock was living under a house for weeks after his elderly owner died. He literally had to be pulled from underneath the house and was brought to the shelter on June 5.

Employees immediately went to work to remove the thousands of fleas that were covering Brock. He was then taken to Dr. Neil Westbrook at Carmichael Road Animal Clinic.

Westbrook determined that Brock was suffering from red mange and also needed to be treated for hookworms and roundworms.

Brock was released after several days at the animal clinic and is now being cared for at the humane society's shelter. According to staff, he's recovering and getting stronger. He's even playing fetch.

You can follow along with Brock's story on the Montgomery Humane Society's blog.

If you would like to help Brock, call the Montgomery Humane Society at 334-409-0622 to contribute to the "Brock Medical Fund." You can also donate on the human society's website. Put "Brock" in the "pet's name" box.

You can also sign up for deals and contests from the Montgomery Humane Society by texting "PETS" to 41212. (Standard text messaging rates apply).
