Home owner arrested by Dothan PD on arson charges

DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) -

The Dothan Police Department arrested a man on charges of second degree arson.

Dothan Police Department say they responded to a residential fire on June 7 in the 100 block of Wembley Court.

When officials arrived there were flames coming from the residence, and it was unknown if it was occupied or not.

The officer on the scene conducted a perimeter search of the home and found the owner of the home, Robert Tolleson, inside while looking through one of the windows. The officer, Jason Arnette, and a nearby civilian, Eddie Currie, were able to pull Tolleson from the home prior to the arrival of the Dothan Fire Department.

Members of the Dothan Arson Task Force responded to the home and immediately began an investigation into the cause of the fire.

Through the preliminary investigations, the fire was ruled as non-accidental. Through further investigation, the person responsible for the fire was identified as Tolleson.

Tolleson has been taken into custody and charged with second degree Arson. Bonds have yet to be determined.
