JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Jefferson County deputies are investigating a vehicle wreck and fire that killed one person and injured another.

Around 2 a.m. Friday deputies responded to a report of an injured woman in the 10000 Lock 17 Road.

They learned that a 52-year-old woman had walked up to the home. She was disoriented and unable to remember how she was injured.

After being treated at a local hospital, the woman awoke around 10 a.m. and told authorities she and a male companion had been in a vehicle accident in the area of Lock 17 Road and Paul Allman Road.

Deputies and the Concord Fire Department responded to the area and after a brief search located a burned vehicle in a wooded area off the roadway.

Deputies discovered a burned body inside. The identity of the victim has not been confirmed at this time.
