Auburn police arrest Montgomery man for burglary and theft

AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

The Auburn Police Department arrested a Montgomery man on charges of burglary, theft of property and breaking and entering a vehicle.

An Auburn Police Officer was on a routine patrol early Sunday morning when he came in contact with 21-year-old Eldrick G. Dowdell walking in the Wire Road and Lem Morrison Drive area. The officer stopped Dowdell after he observed him discarding items along the roadway.

An investigation determined that the property that had been discarded, consisting of a laptop, computer, headphones, camera, purse, and assorted clothing valued at over $1,700, had been taken from a 2009 Volkswagen Passat and also from a residence in the 200 block of West Magnolia Avenue.

Police charged Dowell with third degree burglary, second degree theft of property, third degree theft of property and unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. Dowell will be eligible for a $10,000 bond.
