MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Authorities say an investigation prompted by the discovery a white, powdery substance in the mailroom of a state office building in downtown Montgomery found the substance to be benign.

Officials say the substance was discovered on an envelope inside the mail room of the old Department of Public Safety building at the corner of Dexter Avenue and Bainbridge.

The building is currently used by the Attorney General's office.

Police isolated the area and the Alabama Department of Public Safety tested the substance.

Only one adult male was exposed to the substance.

No other details are being released at this time as the investigation continues.
