Police say a man is under arrest and charged with burglary after being discovered blocks from the scene.
Selma Police Officers responded to a business on the 500 block of Old Cahaba Road after a burglary alarm activated at 4 a.m. on Thursday.
Upon their arrival, officers saw that the glass door of the business had been broken out and were allowed access by the store owner to the stores security camera.
The security tape revealed a black male with dark pants, yellow-gold shirt and a round brim hat throw a rock through the door and take three cases of Budweiser beer.
Police searched the area for a suspect matching the description of the man in the security tape and made contact with Thomas Turner of Selma a couple blocks away from the scene. Turner attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after a short pursuit. Officers found several cans of Budweiser beer in his pockets and a case of beer where he was fist spotted.
Turner was detained and transported to Selma Police Department and arrested on charges for Probable Cause, Burglary 3rd degree and Public Intoxication. He was then transported to Dallas County Jail and is being held on bond for $15,000.
