CrimeStoppers seeks suspect in Family Dollar robbery

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Central Alabama CrimeStoppers and the Montgomery Police Department are asking for the public's help finding the robber of a Family Dollar store.

The incident happened Saturday, June 14 around 8:45 p.m. when an unknown male dressed in a white t-shirt and camouflaged pants walked into the store at 1162 S. Decatur Street.

Central Alabama CrimeStoppers Development Director Tony Garrett says the man appears to start off as a shoplifter until confronted he was confronted by a store employee.

"This individual used physical force in an attempt to flee after being apprehended for shoplifting," Garrett says. "Once physical force is used in a theft, investigators automatically elevates the theft to the much serious charge of Robbery 3rd degree."

After assaulting the store employee, the suspect was last seen running out of the rear door of the store.
