AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

The Auburn Police Department arrested a man on Saturday after police say he was firing a shotgun in the vicinity of an apartment complex.

Police arrested 36-year-old Demetric C. Moore of Auburn on charges of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and possession of a short barrel shotgun.

Police say that at 6:40 p.m., a police officer, who was on patrol in the 800 block of North Donahue Drive, heard several gun shots being fired near an apartment complex.

The officer responded to the area where the shots were coming from, and observed Moore firing a shotgun. The officer took Moore into custody and recovered the gun he was firing.

No one inside the residence was injured, but police say that a male who was standing outside the residence sustained a superficial injury to his arm. The male refused medical treatment for his injury.

Police say that there was minor damage to the apartment building and also to an unoccupied vehicle that was parked in the area.

Moore was transported to the Lee County Jail and will be eligible for a $60,000 bond.
